The Nike Air Max 97 “Gold Medal” is a noteworthy colorway of the late ‘90s performance runner dedicated to the 2020 Summer Olympics. Despite the cancellation and subsequent rescheduling of the Olympic Games, Nike still went ahead and released its cadre of gold inspired designs in 2020, including this regal “Gold Medal” look for the Air Max 97. Hardly subtle, the colorway features a mostly monochromatic gold appearance that is achieved through an all-gold leather upper. The laces, mesh tongue, and mini Swoosh detailing above the tonal mudguard all appear in the championship-inspired shade of yellow. Only the black liner and red “Air Max” branding on the Metallic Gold nylon heel tab deviate from the gold aesthetic. A full length toe-to-heel visible Air unit in the midsole completes the look of the “Gold Medal” Air Max 97.
